The challenge

Aging booster pump stations at the Point of the Pines and Green Mountain Falls sites had reached the point where replacement was needed to maintain reliable system operations. Replacing these facilities required demolishing existing pump stations while constructing new infrastructure at the same locations. At the Point of the Pines site, the new station also needed surge mitigation to protect pumping equipment and reduce motor cycling. Coordinating demolition and installation activities across two sites created additional construction challenges.

Surge mitigation at Point of the Pines

Challenge met

Filanc demolished the existing pump stations and constructed new above-grade facilities at both locations. At the Point of the Pines site, the replacement station includes two redundant hydropneumatic tanks that provide surge mitigation and help minimize pump motor cycling.

At the Green Mountain Falls location, crews removed the existing below-grade pump station and constructed a new above-ground facility. The new infrastructure improves reliability and supports continued operation of the surrounding water system.
