Providence Infrastructure Consultants / Owner: City of NorthglennThe challenge
Lift Station A served as a key component of the City of Northglenn’s wastewater collection system, but the aging facility needed to be replaced to improve reliability. Constructing the new lift station meant installing new pumping, electrical and control systems while maintaining service within the collection system. The work also involved coordinating installation of process piping, vaults and surge mitigation equipment before the existing station could be taken offline and partially demolished.

Challenge met
Filanc constructed a new 10.5-MGD sanitary sewage lift station to replace the existing facility. The station includes four submersible pumps installed within a dual-chamber cast-in-place concrete wet well.
Supporting infrastructure includes a prefabricated electrical and controls enclosure housing switchgear, variable frequency drives and control systems, along with an emergency generator capable of supporting full electrical loads. The project also included valve and metering vaults and installation of 8- to 24-inch ductile iron process piping with surge and transient mitigation equipment. Once the new lift station was placed into service, the existing facility was partially demolished, providing the City with more reliable wastewater infrastructure.
