Expanding treatment capacity at the Fresno/Clovis Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility meant upgrading critical infrastructure while maintaining operations at one of the region’s primary wastewater treatment plants. Increasing plant capacity from 80 million gallons per day to 91 million gallons per day required new solids processing systems along with modifications to existing treatment equipment. The work also involved integrating new pump stations, aeration improvements and solids handling infrastructure within an active treatment facility where existing systems continued operating throughout construction.

Challenge met
Filanc constructed the infrastructure needed to support the plant’s expanded capacity and modernized treatment processes. The project included construction of a 105-foot-diameter structural concrete digester and control building along with new return activated sludge and waste activated sludge pump stations.
Additional improvements included aeration basin upgrades, installation of new blowers and modifications to dissolved air flotation systems that handle sludge processing. Filanc also completed site improvements including drainage and paving upgrades across the facility. These improvements increase treatment capacity while allowing the City of Fresno to maintain reliable wastewater treatment for the surrounding community.
